ROURKELA: He is a contractual employee with a consolidated pay of ` 2,500 but was reportedly found to be in possession of assets worth over ` 1 crore.
� The Vigilance on Thursday netted the ‘crorepati’ NMR (non-muster roll) employee of Transport Department in Sundargarh district.�� Raids on the premises of Bignesh Swain (42) unearthed immovable properties to the tune of over ` 90 lakh. Anti-corruption sleuths assessed his total assets might cross ` 1 crore.�� The sleuths of Sambalpur Division conducted simultaneous raids at Rourkela, Birmitrapur and Kendrapara. Vigilance SP Manoranjan Panda estimated his three-storey building at the posh Civil Township area here at ` 46 lakh, while another house at the nearby Birmitrapur Town was valued at `12 lakh.� Swain also owns a market complex worth ` 18 lakh at Patamundei in Kendrapara and his parental house at Narendrapur in Kendrapara was estimated at ` 3 lakh, the SP said, adding ` 1.5 lakh was found from his three bank accounts.�� Swain joined the Regional� Transport Office (RTO), Rourkela, as an NMR employee with a monthly remuneration of ` 1,500 in 1988. He was subsequently entitled for a monthly consolidated pay of ` 2,500.�� Vigilance sources said he amassed assets disproportionate to his know sources of income during his prolonged posting at the Birmitrapur Unified Check Gate.� Sources said there might be more recoveries in the shape of negotiable instruments and gold ornaments stashed away in bank� lockers.
